Detroit Towing Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions we get from Detroit drivers about towing, roadside assistance, pricing, and response times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. A live dispatcher answers the phone every hour of every day, including Christmas, New Year's Eve, and during snowstorms. There is no answering machine and no overflow call center — every call is handled by Elite Detroit Towing.

Our typical overnight arrival time in Detroit is 20–30 minutes. We position trucks near major highways including I-94 and I-75, so most jobs in Wayne County are covered inside 30 minutes.

We charge the same flat-rate hookup fee regardless of time. There is no premium for night, weekend, or holiday calls.

Yes. Every truck in our fleet is a modern flatbed or wheel-lift capable of damage-free transport for AWD, low-clearance, luxury, and high-mileage vehicles.

Your location (a cross street or what3words is fine), the make and model of the vehicle, and where you want it taken. If you're somewhere unsafe — like a freeway shoulder — tell the dispatcher first so we can prioritize the dispatch.

Flatbed and wheel-lift base rates are the same at Elite Detroit Towing — we don't penalize you for needing the safer option. The only price differences come from distance, not truck type.

Yes — flatbed is the recommended method for any AWD vehicle. Wheel-lift towing of an AWD car can damage the transmission or transfer case.

Yes. Flatbed-equipped trucks run on every shift, day and night, across all of our service area in Wayne County.

No. We winch from factory-designated tie-down points behind the bumper or from frame-mounted hooks, never from cosmetic bodywork. Soft straps are used for the four-corner tie-down.

Yes — flatbed transport is the only safe way to move a non-running EV. The drive wheels must not rotate during transport, which a flatbed prevents by lifting the entire vehicle.

No. We bill on the spot, by service. No annual membership fee, no card to keep current, no waiting on AAA's contracted tow rotation.

Yes. We carry industrial-grade jump packs that work on dead batteries even in winter. If the battery itself is failed and won't hold a charge, we can also tow you to a service shop.

No. We are not a tire shop. We will install your spare tire (donut or full-size) so you can drive to a tire shop. We don't sell, patch, or repair tires.

Enough to safely reach the nearest gas station — typically 1–2 gallons. The fuel cost is added to the service fee.

Once on scene: jump start ~5 minutes, lockout 5–15 minutes depending on vehicle, tire swap ~15 minutes, fuel delivery ~3 minutes.

Our flat rate for a mobile jump start in Detroit is competitive with — and often less than — what AAA non-members pay for the same service. Call (313) 725-9795 for the current price.

No, when done correctly. Our jump packs include reverse-polarity protection and surge limiting to protect onboard electronics.

We'll tell you immediately if the battery is failed. If it is, we can tow you to a parts store or service shop. We do not sell batteries on the truck.
